We were the ones checking off our local wanderlust wishlist and wandering through the Gerald R. Ford Museum and reading all the plaques. @The Gerald R. Ford Museum, Grand Rapids, MI
What an amazing sight.... (wait for it...) made from foam! Yeah... I'm that person who travels three plus hours just to see something like this Foamhenge (Stonehenge's redneck cousin) and love every second of it.
(Taken outside Natural Bridge, VA) I was the [only] one strolling through the tattoo museum without any pet ink of my own showing.
That nerdy one carefully reading the history plaques... that was me. I'd said it was an artsy feeling day, craving a new museum. Well, I found it here. I was the one cutting you off in traffic to see the giant yellow head peeking up above the treeline. I admit it-- I was the one reveling in the irony of my sudden driving to see a ...giant crash test dummy. I deserved your obscene gestures, your honks, and your sneers. But, I don't apologize. It was worth it. Crash Test Dummy near Glen Burnie, MD
Years have passed since we've been on the island that celebrates years from the past. Reason #2,896 to love the mitten: Mackinac Island Mackinac Island is a Victorian 'Three Seasons', rustic, yet quaint. Essentially another northern ghost-town in winter, summertime is bustling with day-trippers, snowbirds, and lake enthusiasts, a boon for the tourist industry. With its repetitive tchotchke tourist traps, art stops, and fudge shops, the main street is a mix of soundwaves: laughter, discussions, and clomping of hooves. With the ban on cars, the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of lilacs and perennial gardens, sugar shacks, and the stench of horses. With three gorgeously reverent churches, shops, the fort that defended during the battles of 1812, butterfly house and cheesy "haunted house", the island is a crisp reminder of somewhere in time.
Sadly, a good majority of the quirky and gimick laiden theme parks have closed down. , leaving only remnants and ruins of their once slightly creepy amusement sector. When an open (and vibrantly bustling) one is stumbled upon, it doesn't matter if its the destination or part of the journey. I was the one whirling into the Wild West Show, sans blinker, just to snap some shots of the dairy lovin' giant.
Photos taken at Frontier Town near Ocean City. Yes, its a Western Theme Park that backs into the ocean. .... Meanwhile in the Strip, a busy district in Pittsburgh... **Been spending most my life livin' in a foodie paradise. The kishkas and perogies, perogies and the kishkas, chocolates and lattes, noodles and shnitzels..... Been spending most my life livin' in a foodie paradise....**
