This year, winter was a stationary time. There's not been enough snow to go trekking; its been too cold to just explore. So on this 'Throw Back Thursday', I've dug up photos from the Ghosts of Festivals Past. Any festival, but especially musical, with its vibrancy, eager energy, and pulsating beats intimate summer's vibes. Electric Forest Memories from the WAY BACK WHEN college years.
I'm the one driving two plus hours to see piles of trash. The Heidelberg Project in Detroit is an outdoor "folk art" (of sorts) exhibit, aimed at turning an impoverished & sad area of Detroit into a community expression. Its meaningful in that many people from many cultures have come together to reclaim an area neglected by legislators, trickle down economics, and, of course, white flight. Its skeezy in that there are doll heads and dirty stuffed animals hanging about like some sort of horror movie. A stroll through the free "museum" and tea at a very hipster coffee house with lovely ladies for the finale to Galantine's Day 2017 = (a very tired) happiness.
